Fiona El Bassuni

Clinical Psychologist, Child and Adolescent

 

Fiona El Bassuni is a Clinical Psychologist licensed with the Health Authority of Abu Dhabi (HAAD). She obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology from the University of United Arab Emirates (2015) and completed her internship with Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (Abu Dhabi,2016). Her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Psychology is from the University of Johannesburg (South Africa, 2004).

She also holds an Executive Masters in Consulting and Coaching for Change from INSEAD in France (2013), as well as an Honours degree in Law (1991) and a Bachelor of Arts (1989) from the University of Witwatersrand (South Africa). Fiona has completed several foundational courses involving systems-based; psycho-dynamic and transference-focused therapies at the Institute of Group Analysis (London, 2012); Tavistock Clinic (London, 2012) and with the McLean Hospital (Boston, 2016); in addition to participating in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) practical training offered through Bangor University (UK, 2017). She has also completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems (Herfordshire, 2017).

She works mainly with young people who experience a range of problems including depression, anxiety, panic, obsessive- compulsive problems; adjustment issues; emerging personality disorders and intra- and inter-personal conflict. She also supports young people with attention and learning difficulties. Fiona uses an integrative psychotherapy approach underpinned by family-of-origin and systemic thinking that is integrated with CBT skills and techniques, including mindfulness and stress reduction practices.
