Daniel Parkes joined Maudsley Health in 2020 as Service Manager for the Addictions Clinical Academic Group (CAG). He obtained his Bachelor of Social Science in Mental Health Nursing in 2009 at the University of Teesside.
Daniel has over 19-years of experience in the field of mental health. He worked in the UK, mainly in the National Health Service (NHS) in Nursing and Governance and previously as a ward manager supporting his team through accreditation with the Royal College of Nursing. In 2015 his team was voted best team in the United Kingdom, UK by the Royal College of Psychiatry.
Dan is an experienced trainer and lecturer. He supported the pilot and subsequent implementation of the Apprenticeship Program with an NHS Trust, nurturing the foundation for a sustainable relationship with the local university. The implementation of these programs has enabled the career progression of Health Care workers to achieve their ambition of becoming registered nurses.
Dan has extensive experience both in outpatient and inpatient settings working with adults with:
- Addictions problems
- Anxiety disorders; including panic disorder and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Community Treatment orders
- Personality disorder
He uses a variety of models to inform practice, which is grounded in a biopsychosocial model as well as Positive Behavioral support models of care. He has a keen interest in addictions and addictive behaviors. Dan also has experience as a Forensic Nurse.
