South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) is working with Macani, a highly respected Abu Dhabi based organisation with a mission to develop and extend high quality mental health care across the United Arab Emirates.

‘Maudsley Health, Abu Dhabi’ has provided CAMHS services in Abu Dhabi for over two years. The approach is innovative and exciting and is generating significant interest across the Region. Adult mental health services opened more recently and is developing high quality care pathways.

The service has a core group of staff based in the UAE with visiting clinicians from SLaM providing additional resource and expertise. The plan is to replicate this model across the region as part of our ambitious strategy. As a result, we are looking for additional high calibre, experienced staff, who engage well with patients and are committed to delivering the highest possible quality service using evidence-based practice.

This is a truly exciting and unique opportunity to be part of a senior and experienced team to work in the new collaboration between Maudsley Health and the Ministry of Health and Prevention to support the development of a Centre of Excellence. You would be working closely with experienced Director level staff from the Maudsley and the in-house leadership team at the Al Amal Psychiatric Hospital. This is a rare opportunity to be able to support the further development of existing services and influence and shape new services in great facilities.

A thorough induction programme will be offered along with a commitment to continuing professional development. Some teaching and training can be delivered remotely using advanced technology. Direct supervision will also be available within the service.

As this is still a new and developing initiative a degree of flexibility and creativity will be required together with an appreciation of relevant cultural issues. Of greatest importance is the ability to deliver high quality, evidence-based care. The ability to speak Arabic is a distinct advantage.

The successful applicants will need to fulfil the professional registration requirements of the Health Authority, Abu Dhabi or the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult Mental Health Service based in Abu Dhabi. We are specifically looking for staff with significant experience of delivering high quality multi-disciplinary assessments and treatments.

Desired candidate profile: The post holders will provide clinical expertise, have the ability to engage well with patients and be committed to delivering the highest possible quality service using evidence-based practice. The successful applicants will need to fulfill the professional registration requirements to be licensed by the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi.  

The ability to speak Arabic would be an advantage.

Clinical Psychologist, Child and Adolescent

Job Purpose

• To provide a specialist psychology service to the above services including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes.
• To contribute to enabling other staff, service users and carers from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment.
• To work as an autonomous professional within BPS, HCPC and Health Authority Abu Dhabi (HAAD) guidelines and codes of conduct, and guided by the policies and procedures of the service, taking responsibility for own work including treatment and discharge decisions with support of clinical supervisor.

Skills

Education Bachelor degree in the field of psychology 
And 
Postgraduate Doctoral degree (example: Ph.D., Psy.D., Ed.D., D.Clin.Psy) from an approved psychology faculty or an educational faculty with focus on psychology 

OR 

Bachelor degree in the field of psychology 
And 
Postgraduate full time Master’s degree (includes MSc, MA, M.Phil) of minimum two (2) years course duration from a psychology faculty or an educational faculty with focus on psychology provided that the bachelor degree is minimum four (4) years duration 

Experience 

Two years of clinical Experience is required post qualification.

License 
License issued by regulatory body of the country
